Dhaulagiri trek

Dhaulagiri circuit trek is one of the challenging treks that offers the stunning views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Ranges both above 7000 meters along with beautiful and varied landscapes of rice fields, primitive houses, jungles, bamboo forest, moraines and glaciers that dazzles the eyesight of trekkers towards the undisturbed part of Dhaulagiri region. It is separated from the Annapurna region by the deepest gorge of Kaligandaki.

The Dhaulagiri Circuit trek also requires the trekkers to cross the passes mainly French Pass (5360m) and Dhampus Pass (5200m). Dhaulagiri region is also called the hidden valley of Nepal. The trekkers can also enjoy the hot spring bath at Tatopani before arriving at Pokhara which calls the end of this trek. Through the trails of forest along the trek, the trekkers can come close to the wildlife with mountain birds and wild animals such as Himalaya Thar, Musk deer, leopards, etc.

The high mountain passes with oak, juniper and rhododendron meet the eye. This trek is marked by the altitude of the trek and cold weather as we reach the Dhaulagiri circuits. The best months to embark on the Dhaulagiri trek are September, October, November, and March, April, May. Each day the trekking is done for at least 4 hours to 6 hours a day. Mt. Dhaulagiri from which the name has been derived is the seventh highest mountain of the World. It is also known as the “White Mountain” because of snow-covered peaks.

Day 1
Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel:

This is the first day as you step to Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal. We will receive you and drive down to hotel in Kathmandu with bag and baggage. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 2
Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara and drive to Darbang (1110m) 6-7 hrs.

Today we catch a morning flight to Pokhara which is just 45 minutes to reach there. Then we drive through Beni following the flow of Kaligandaki River below till we arrive at Darbang. Overnight at Darbang.

Day 3
Trek from Darbang to Sibang (1780m) 6-7hrs

Today we trek to a ridge of Dharapani and on the path above river to reach Sibang. We can get glimpses of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Gurja Himal on our way. Overnight at Sibang.

Day 4
Trek Sibang to Naura (1570m) 4-5hrs.

Trekking down the path of Ghatti Khola and ascending to Muri village. Then we cross the Dhola Khola bridge and reach the settlements and to Naura village. Overnight at Naura village.

Day 5
Trek from Naura village to Dobhan (2520m) 5-7 hours

Following bank of Myagdi Khola we arrive in Bagar. Then we trek up and down to Jyardan forest and then reach Dobhan. Overnight at Dobhan.

Day 6
Dobhan to Italian base camp trek (3660m) 7-8hrs.

We pass by oak and bamboo forest and start trekking to a high elevation then our eyes set upon the surrounding peaks of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Tukuche as we enter the Italian base camp. Overnight at Italian base camp.

Day 7

Today is a day to explore around the base camp. Overnight at tented camp

Day 8
Trek Italian base camp to Japanese base camp (3890m) 4-5hrs.

We leave the Italian camp and embark on a steep slope and then cross glacial moraines and grassy land where the Japanese base camp are located. Here Mt. Dhaulagiri Tsaurabong peaks are seen vividly. Overnight at tented camp.

Day 9
Japanese base camp to Dhaulagiri base camp (4748m) 4-5hrs.

The trekking is challenging part on a glacial moraine with up and down surface. However we arrive at Dhaulagiri base camp that gives a very close view of Dhaulagiri Mountain range. Overnight at tented camp.

Day 10
Acclimatization day

We will explore the Dhaulagiri base camp and stay overnight at a tented camp.

Day 11
Dhaulagiri base camp to French Pass (5360m) to the Hidden valley (5140m) 6-7 hours

We gradually climb up the hillside of Chhondarban glacier and make all the way to the French pass which gives 360 degree view of surrounding mountains and make our way to hidden valley. Overnight at hidden valley.

Day 12
Contingent day

Today we have a contingent day in case of bad weather. We will explore the outer parts of the hidden valley. Overnight at hidden valley.

Day 13
Hidden valley to Dhampus Pass (5244m) and climb to Yak Kharka (4200m) 5-6hrs.

We traverse the Dhampus pass with backdrops of Dhaulagiri mountain range and descend steeply to yak kharka. Overnight at Camp in Yak Kharka

Day 14
Trek from Yak Kharka to Marpha and Jomsom (2720m) 4-5hrs.

We descend from Yak Kharka to Marpha which is famous for its apple groves and its products. We follow the trails of Kali Gandaki River and make our way to Jomsom. Overnight at Jomsom.

Day 15
Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara and transfer to hotel:

Today we leave the Dhaulagiri region and catch a flight to Pokhara. Overnight at Pokhara Hotel.

Day 16
Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu

Today we catch another flight back to Kathmandu to our hotel. Farewell program in the evening.

Day 17
Final departure from Kathmandu

Today after breakfast and check out from hotel our representative will take you to airport few hours before the scheduled flight back home.
