Kanchenjunga Base Camp trek is one of the most sought after off beaten path treks in Nepal. Mt. Kanchenjunga (8586m) is the world’s third tallest mountain that lies between Nepal and India border. The Kanchenjunga National park is protected area where Mt. Kanchenjunga with its five distinct peaks cover majority of land under the protected area system of Kanchenjunga region. The trekkers will be trekking through the park and be able to witness the wildlife with different species of birds and animals on the land of Sherpa and Limbu ethnicities.
Kanchenjunga Base Camp trek begins with a mountain flight into Taplejung district. Then it moves towards Chirwa, Amilasa, Ghunsa Khambachen and Pangpema following the remote off beaten tracks. Trekking to the base camp of Mt. Kanchenjunga is a diverse and an isolated trekking journey. The alpine meadows at higher altitude in a sparse basin of land are simply monumental while trekking at Kanchenjunga mountain region. Mt Kanchenjunga, Mt. Jannu, Mt. Yalung Kang, Mt. Pang Pema are tall mountains that hovers the eyesight resembling tall snow icicles above the moraine of Kanchenjunga glacier.
The wide array of mountain peaks from the snowy plain of base camp is a heavenly experience with blue sky stretching above and right below the pinnacles of Kanchenjunga mountain range. The best time of this trek are months of Spring season (March to May) and Autumn( September to November).
