Lack of Education, Health, and Employment in Nepal

Lack of Education, Health, and Employment in Nepal

Nepal is a small landlocked country in the Southeast Asian region and it is bordered by the Mighty Himalayan range in the North and shares some open borders with neighboring countries like Nepal and China. Though the main occupation is agriculture, there are other sources of revenue such as cottage industries, poultry farming, livestock, tourism, and manufacturing plants. These resources focus on National and Economic development. Education is the fundamental right of every human being and Nepal adheres to this completely. Primary and Secondary Schools have opened in various parts of the Country to educate every child and illiterate to read and write. Health and hygiene will help prevent mortality rates in children, women, and older citizens. Consideration for these health care professional teams with hospitals, clinics, quarantines, medical stores, and the pharmaceutical industry come into play from research and innovation of science and technology. Employment will help to earn good wages and income and also lead to the economic development of the nation.

But living below the poverty line in rural areas the problems due to lack of these resources cannot be undermined, especially in a grief-stricken Coronavirus crisis and contingencies required to eradicate it. More people now are aware of all these essential things for living a peaceful and secure life. National development is based on these three pillars. At primitive times, these facilities were shanty and due to lack of facilities, many people died of disease, hunger, poverty, and malnutrition. Though over years still persistent due to difficult geographical conditions people have realized how essential all these factors are for sustainable life.

The light of education gives the ideal hope of getting a good life through employment. People have found out what foods are good for health and which ones cause suffering from discernment. They have turned to fruit harvesting and used them to produce industrial products and generate employment and revenue for them. The right to education and the right to employment also made us see the meaning of living in happiness and solidarity.

Over generations, people who were abandoned of their rights were forced to leave things that could improve their livelihood due to heavy dominance from autocratic rulers. Now under the interim Constitution of Nepal, citizens are provided their rights and independence to live a decent life. However due to political upheavals and unjust political leaders in the search of power choose otherwise by their inaction, deception, corruption and that is why many people have not been able to live a decent life by getting caught up in the frenzy of unscrupulous leaders. The votes of people could not bring an exemplary leader to powerful positions. This caused disparity, factions, and degeneration of progressive mindsets and many people left home and went abroad to live their dreams.  Then the calamities, in the form of natural disasters, deadly diseases, and tensions spoil everything. There are destitute people from all parts who don’t get the same benefits and opportunities. While the rich become richer and gain luxury and immediate attention, poor people get abandoned and hungry to death. They don’t get enough to feed their family and many adults are homeless and penniless and suffer malnutrition starvation and untimely death.

The deprived and marginalized people are highly vulnerable to mishaps than the well-to-do person who can meet their ends on a daily basis. The weak political climate, and untimely actions from dwelling leaders of the nation, dashed Nepalese hopes. As predicted by philosophers in the medieval century, the present times and future is a testing one for many destitute people who are still in jeopardy.

There is a huge gap in society, all development plans and programs are equivocal as they don’t reach to wash the sorrows of the vulnerable people. Even in pandemic oxygen supply, ventilators, isolation centers, covid hospitals, and amenities were all insufficient and run in a blameworthy way upon close inspection. The leaders promise but don’t deliver as promised. The long lockdown saw the loss of jobs and employment opportunities, black-marketing or shortage products, and a vaccine deficit added fuel to ignite a spark of revolt. In education, we had technology and programs that saw positive changes with new infrastructure. However, that couldn’t be capitalized with a pandemic.

The children’s welfare programs are doing great work. Each child is given rights to education and some places made free. Child labor is abolished. Health-wise we are also advancing but still weak in community and rural sectors. But, the Employment situation doesn’t look promising. Many educated people go overseas to get a good-paying job, here there is high competition and pay is less for job starters. Many don’t find the job they want here and employed people are doing so with very less pay, except for those of the elite class. The cost of living is high, education and medical fees are still beyond reach for many citizens. There is a disparity staring back on the face of lawmakers who need to reckon that still in Nepal, there is a lack of education, health, and employment. We are now in perilous times which pose challenges with every new year of the 21st Century. Malnutrition and poverty persist more during a pandemic and natural disasters which needs an umbrella of development to revive hope and fulfill those needs are persistent.

We must be strong, courageous, and support life of humans who are in frail conditions to revive humanity at these moments.
