The Gokyo Chola Pass Trek is a challenging trek that takes you through the beautiful Khumbu region of Nepal, home to the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest. This trek offers a unique and adventurous experience that combines the best of both the Gokyo Lakes and the Chola Pass treks.

Gokyo Chola Pass trek is one of the most popular trekking circuits of the Mt. Everest region. The Chola Pass is at an altitude of 5330 meters that take you to Everest Base Camp (EBC). But in this trek, we will not go directly to Everest base camp but towards Gokyo valley and reach Gokyo Lake. From here we move to Gokyo RI to see the summit of Mt. Everest along with Makalu, Cho Oyu and many more. We come next to Dzongla and move towards GorakShep, and ascent to Kala Patthar for close up view of Mt. Everest and its surroundings.

The sunrise view of Kala Patthar is simply breathtaking. The Khumbu glacier is seen winding down the mountains. Then we trek down to Labuche then Debuche and finally, the bustling village of Sherpas in the Solukhumbu region called Namche Bazaar. From here we take a mountain flight to Everest base camp and surroundings, after that we will walk down towards Lukla, and finally we will end this trip. After arriving in Kathmandu, from Lukla, we do sightseeing and shopping and enjoy a farewell program and dinner. The next day is the end and we depart with happy memories of Gokyo Chola Pass trek on the way to our home or connecting destination.

Gokyo Chola Pass trek is graded as moderate to strenuous. There are tea houses and lodges with full board meals during the trekking period. The best seasons are from March to May and September to November.

The trek starts with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and then you trek to the village of Phakding, following the Dudh Koshi River. From there, you will continue to Namche Bazaar, the gateway to the Khumbu region, where you will have the opportunity to acclimatize and explore the local culture and markets.

As you continue your trek, you will pass through the beautiful Gokyo Valley, where you will see the stunning Gokyo Lakes and have the opportunity to climb Gokyo Ri for an unforgettable panoramic view of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.

Then the real adventure starts, you will cross the challenging Chola Pass (5420m) which offers a great opportunity to experience the high altitude and a fantastic view of the surrounding peaks. After crossing the pass, you will trek down to Dragnak, where you can explore the ancient Tengboche Monastery, one of the most important monasteries in the Khumbu region.

The trek then continues to Pheriche and Namche Bazaar before returning to Lukla for the flight back to Kathmandu. This trek is considered challenging and it's important to be well-prepared, both physically and mentally, and to have proper equipment, guide and a good insurance.

Day to Day Itinerary Expand/Collapse All

Our Airport executive will pick you up from the airport and transfer to Hotel. Afternoon our company will provide well come dinner at Nepali restaurant with cultural program.

According to the flight schedule Our trekking guide will take you to the airport for the flight to lukla. After arriving at lukla and managed the team of our staffs you will start the trek to phakding.

After breakfast you will trek to Namche bazar crossing via Monjo and jorsalle. In Monjo you will get the National park entry permit. If you have already you will only check in and heading to Namche at an elevation of 3440m.

Today you are either relaxing in Namche Bazar or according to your interest you can also walk to Everest view Hotel for the Acclimatization. From where you can explore the sorrounding mountains. Mt. Everest and many more.

Today your trek starts after breakfast to Phortse Tenga. From Namche it takes about 5 hours, you have to cross via Sanasa and Mongla to the camp at Phortse Tenga. Actually the meaning Tenga is river side in Sherpa language. The lodges is situated at the riverside so it is called phortse Tenga.

From here the trail to Gokyo Lake and the trail to Everest Base Camp separates. The trail on the left-hand side takes you to Gokyo Lake where the trail on the right-hand side takes you to Everest Base Camp. Now you will have to climb very slowly because of the thin air and low volume of oxygen.

Today you will trek to Machermu. The trail goes through labarma, luza and finally you will reach to Machermu. On the way you will also take an experience with the yake pastures area and the beautiful scenery of the sorrounding mountains and the villages.

The trail goes to Gokyo lake. It is the final destination of the Gokyo valley trek. This is also known as a holy site, because of the holy lake Gokyo.

Gokyo Ri will no doubt give us unforgettable memories for the lifetime. It is one of the most spectacular or indescribable places of our adventure. The walk is about 3/4 hours from Gokyo Lakes.

Today the trail goes through the Glacier, which is called Ngozumba Glacier the logest Glacier in khumbu valley. It takes about 3 to 4 hrs to arrive in Taknag. It is the Base Camp of Chola pass.

Early in the morning you have to leave the lodge in Taknag. All of you get the lunch packet after having breakfast with tea or coffee. Headlihgt will be necessary because you have to walk in the dark till the sun is shining. After crossing the chola pass 5300m. you will finally be at the Dzongla village.

Today with the spectacular view of the sorrounding mountains you will trek to Lobuche. Which lies at an elevation of 4910m. from the sea level. On the way you will meet directly the very beautiful mountain Ama dablam direct infront of you. She is waiting for you to well coming in another side of khumbu valley.

Now today you will get to the Goraksep, at an elevation of 5100m. from the sea level. It is the last destination of both Everest base camp and Gokyo trek. So from here you will return back after exploring the Everest Base Camp and Kalapathar the view point of the khumbu himalayas.

It will be better if you leave early in the morning for the morning sunrise view from kalapathar and after descend to the lodge and having breakfast you will descend down to Lobuche.

Today you will trek through the other side of villages via Pheriche and pangboche to Debuche. Now the temperature is getting warmer every day. In Deboche if you want to explore the Nunery you can also enjoy and visit this site.

Now the trek is about to ending, from today you will meet again the same village the main sherpa settlement Namche bazar. Up today you had made a circle from Gokyo to E.B.C and back to Namche.

The last day of the trekking, you have to descend down to the National park entry point. Here you have to exit from the National park area. Now you are out of National park area, after exiting the National park area you will continue your trek to lukla via phakding, Cheplung and finally you will get in Lukla. At the evening if you are interested all the staff will join together for the last day celebration of the treks.

According to your flight schedule you will transfer to the airport.

Today after breakfast our special city guide will pick you up from the hotel and take you for the sight seeing of kathmandu, valley the world Herritage site. Pashupati nath, Bouddha nath and Swayambhu nath. Afternoon our company will provide the fare well dinner at the Nepali restaurant with cultural program if available.

According to the flight schedule our airport executive will transfer you to the airport for the final departure.
