Gokyo valley trek is also one of the most popular trekking destinations in the Khumbu region in eastern Nepal. One, who wants to do only the Gokyo Lake to explore the holy Lake of Gokyo, can do this trek. This trek takes almost two weeks altogether, only the trekking period takes 12 days on the way.
The Gokyo valley trek begins from Lukla, we will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. After a short break continues our treks towards Phakding. Which lies at an elevation of 2600 m. from sea level. We will climb 200m. down from Lukla while Lukla lies 2800mtr. Similarly, the treks go towards Namche Bazar and the next day we will stay for one more day in Namche Bazaar. because of the acclimatization there. So after the acclimatization day, we will continue our treks to Kyangjuma and Sanasa. Which is the meeting point from 3 destinations. One way comes from Khumjung and the other goes to Gokyo valley. From the left-hand side, the 3rd one goes a direct way to Everest Base Camp. So from here, we will turn on the left side for the Gokyo valley trek.
After climbing a bit steeply up we will arrive at Mongla 3800m. for the lunch break and afterward slowly descend down to Phorste Tenga. So we will keep continuing to the goal point, where the destination is waiting for us to well coming. Similarly, the treks will be continuous till Gokyo Lake, by crossing Dole, Luza, Machermo, and Phanga. On the way, you will enjoy a lot of Yak pasture with grazing yaks and other animals such as cows as a domestic animal and Himalayan Thar as a wild animal, which is known as blue sheep in this area. In the local language, they are called “Ri Rauw”. Which means the Mountain Goat. In the Sherpa language Ri = Mountains or Hill & Rauw = Goat. So it is called “Ri Rauw”.
From Gokyo village, you can also explore the largest glacier in Nepal. Which is known as Ngozumpa Glacier, one can climb up to the morain and view the scenery of this largest glacier. The next day as per your interest one can climb up to the viewpoint of Gokyo Ri at an elevation of 5300m. from here you can explore the magnificent view of the surrounding mountains, such as Cho Oyu, Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and many more.
There is also another alternative the people who can’t climb up to this viewpoint can hike to the 5th lake, which is about 3 to 3.5 hrs. Walk from the Gokyo village. From here also one can enjoy the panoramic view of Everest and other many more. So after explored the area of this holy lake we will slowly descend down on the way back to Namche. After capturing all this unforgettable scenery and the culture, tradition, and living style of the people in this area you will finally arrive at Lukla.
Which are the starting and the ending point of the treks. In the afternoon after celebrating a farewell dinner with the staff, you will have to say goodbye to the crew member of Mountain trekkers and enjoying the dream of the flight on the next day to Kathmandu.
Our airport representative will pick you from Tribhuvan international airport and bring you to the Hotel. Evening our company will provide welcome dinner at Nepali kitchen with cultural program. Alt. 1350m. (- / – / WD. )
According to the flight schedule, our guide will pick you up from the Hotel and bring you to the airport. It takes about 35 min. flight from ktm to lukla. All the domestic flight in Nepal are visual flight, so due to the weather condition it could be delay. So passengers should be patient till the airlines will announce to proceeding to flight.
After landing at lukla airport you will take a rest for a while with a cup of tea or coffee. Our staffs will prepare your luggage to carry to the destination. After a short break you will start the trek to Phakding. Alt. 2600m. (B/L/D).
Today is the second day of the trekking. So after breakfast you will start your trek slowly to Namche bazar. On the way you enter the national park entrance in Monjo. After crossing National park entrance you will have a lunch at Jorsalle, which is the last destination for the lunch break before arriving at Namche bazar. After lunch in few minutes you will enjoy the Hillary bridge & now you have to climb up approx. 3 hrs to Namche. Alt. 3440m. (B/L/D)
Today it is actually known as rest day in Namche bazar. But you can acclimatize this day to the higher point then where you slept. So it is better for the height adjustment. You could climb up to Everest view hotel, which is the best viewpoint of the surrounding mountains in khumbu region. It lies at an elevation of 3700m. from the sea level. If there is enough time you could also explore khumjung village and the Hillary school just few min. below from Everest view hotel. you could also visit the Monastery at khumjung, where you will see the yeti scull. Afternoon back to Namche at the same lodge. (B/L/D).
After spending two nights at Namche now you will leave the village & heading to Phortse Tenga. The path goes straight on until the sanasa, and from there the path turns left up to the Mongla, which lies at an elevation of 3900m. from the sea level. After having short lunch break you will descend down to Phortse Tenga. Alt. 3680m. (B/L/D).
Now after having breakfast slowly climb up to Dole. You will walk through the mixed forest with Rhododendron and oak trees, there is also a different types of shrubs and bushes. Finally you will reach at Dole. Alt. 4038m. (B/L/D).
After breakfast, the path climbs steeply to Labharma la. From labharma, the path gradually climbs uphills. Finally you will arrive at Machermu village. At the afternoon you can also visit the health station at Machermu. There you will get the information about the altitude sickness and how it could prevent. Alt. 4465m. (B/L/D).
Today you will get to your goal point of this trekking. The path goes gradually uphills. It is not so steep up and difficult, after few minutes walk you will reach at a tea house called Fanga, where you can have a cup of tea or coffee. We would like to suggest you that to drink enough water or liquid ( no alcohol) at least 3 ltrs of water per day,it helps to dilute your blood. The Gokyo valley which is decorated by a few houses or lodges at the early time. But now it is increasing every day more Lodges and coffee & bakery cafes.
Today you have two options to choose. The first option you could start early morning with a cup of tea or coffee to the spectacular view point Gokyo Ri. at an elevation of 5300m. or the 2nd option is that one can hike to the fifth lake. Which takes 3 to 4 hrs up & down to the Gokyo village. From there one can also see the view of Mt. Everest. Alt. 4790m. (B/L/D).
Now it is time to say goodbye Gokyo village and after having breakfast you will descend down to Dole by following same route and at the same lodge. Alt. 4038m. (B/L/D).
After breakfast you have to first descend down to the river phortse tenga. After a few rest at phortse tenga you will ascend up to Mongla at an elevation of 3900m. If you feel like having lunch in Mongla, there is also an option. if not you can walk down to the kyangjuma continue. Where we can do lunch. After having lunch or short break, you should continue your trek to Namche bazar. Alt. 3440m. ( B/L/D).
After the breakfast you will leave Namche the headquarter of the sherpas in khumbu region. You will return back the same way which you had already done on the way up to Gokyo valley. After descending down to Monjo you have to check out from Sagaramatha National park entry, which you had already checked in by going up. Finally crossing Phakding, Nurning and Cheplung you will reach at Lukla. Today at the evening there will be farewell dinner with the escort team of your trek. Alt. 2800m. (B/L/D).
According to your flight schedule you will bring to the airport. The distance between airport and the lodge where you slept is not so far. So you can comfortably walk to the airport. Flight duration 35 min. (B/- /-).
According to your scheduled program you will pick up at the hotel by our city guide. After breakfast comfortably drive to the World Heritage Site. Today you will visit Pashupati nath Temple, Bouddha nath stupa and the Swayambhu nath stupa. Your cultrula guide or city guide will explain you clearly about this World Heritage site. Alt. 1350m. (B/-/ FD).
According to your flight schedule our airport executive will bring you to Tribhuvan international airport kathmandu for the final departure to your home country. (B/-/-).
